WSM 650-AM is proud to launch of Music City Roots: Live From The Loveless Cafe, a weekly show built on the remarkable Americana music scene and the legacy of WSM’s historic roots in live radio.
Each broadcast will feature three to four artists in 30-minute segments, followed by a free-form “Loveless Jam” where all the artists and their bands will be invited to collaborate on the fly. Music City Roots: Live from the Loveless Cafe will be emceed by legendary WSM-650 AM broadcaster Eddie Stubbs, guest hosted by songwriter Jim Lauderdale and artist interviews will be conducted live by writer Craig Havighurst. Tonight’s show features: Cherryholmes, Mountain Heart, Nashville Mandolin Ensemble, and Chris Volpe.
This year, WSM 650-AM became a reporting station to the Americana Music Association radio chart as part of a larger effort to embrace and celebrate the many connections between WSM’s legacy and mission and Americana’s devotion to preserving and advancing traditional country and roots music. “Music City Roots: Live From The Loveless Cafe” will showcase a “roots and branches” format that brings together all the hues of Americana music: bluegrass, folk, honky-tonk, alternative, blues, western and rockabilly, plus creative crossovers into rock, jazz and world music.
